Brief Biography

Dr. Mapitse is a Senior Lecturer of Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû. She has served the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû as Head of Chemistry Department (2010-2015) and Executive Committee Ìýmember of the Centre for Scientific Research, Indigenous Knowledge and Innovation (CesrIKi). Dr. Mapitse's research interests include alkylidene carbene reactions, chemistry of seed oils, phytochemistry of medicinal plants and synthesis of biologically active compounds. In pursuing these interests she, in collaboration with colleagues in the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû and overseas, has published several articles in reputable peer reviewed journals. Dr. Mapitse is passionate about issues of women in science and is a member of the Chemistry Department outreach committee, and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD).Ìý
