Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to teach Sociological Theory and Research Methods at undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to the 4844��Ѹ�� Strategic research themes and emerging areas of Sociological thought. The candidate should be able to teach at least two of the following: Classical Sociological Theories; Political Sociology; Sociology of Law; Sociology of Labour and Quantitative Research Methods. The candidate should be able to (i) supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects; (ii) conduct research and render professional service; (iii) perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department. The Department reserves the right to allocate other courses in addition to those outlined above.

Requirements: Candidates should possess: (i) a PhD in Sociology or related fields ii) show evidence of engagement in research. The following will be added advantages; (i) Evidence of governance and social engagement; (ii) as well as teaching experience at a University or comparable institution.

N.B: In special circumstances a relevant Master’s Degree in Sociology with a Bachelors’ degree in Sociology of at least 2.1 pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent may be considered.

Requirements: the candidates should have: (i) a PhD in Sociology or related fields, (ii) at least nine (9) years relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iii) a minimum of 24 pieces of research products (e.g. articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers. Twelve (12) of these must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, ISBN numbers (for books, book chapters and conference proceedings), dates of publications, names of publishers, name/s of co-authors if any and number of pages. The works should be categorized into books, book chapters, refereed journals, non-refereed works, consultancies and practical media projects.

Senior Lecturer: Candidates should have: i) A PhD in Sociology or related fields ii) At least 3 years teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; iii) An excellent cumulative and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 pieces of research products published by recognized publishers, 4 of which should be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining 2 publications could be journal articles, books chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers. An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in referred/accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; iv) Sustained research output: a minimum of 1 peer reviewed publication every 2 years; v) Scholarly presentations at national and and/or international conferences; vi) be lead and/or single author in at least 2 referred journal articles; vii) Publications should be spread nationally and /or internationally and across journals; viii) Some research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions, etc. ix) recognized as being of at least national research standing (eg reviewer of for refereed/accredited national and regional publishers); editorial board member of at least a national publisher in a relevant field; invitation to serve as keynote speaker at national/and or international conferences x) Evidence of governance and social engagement activities.

Lecturer: Applicants should possess: (i) a Doctorate in Sociology or related field, (ii) show evidence of engagement in research. The following will be added advantages; (i) Evidence of governance and social engagement; (ii) as well as teaching experience at a University or comparable institution.

The Faculty of Social Sciences invites suitable candidates to apply for the position of Lecturer in Sociology.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to teach Sociological Theory and Research Methods at undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to the 4844��Ѹ�� Strategic research themes and emerging areas of Sociological thought. The candidate should be able to teach at least two of the following: Applied Anthropology, Ethnicity and Race, Migration Studies and Agrarian Society, Sociology of Crime and Deviance, Rural Development, Penology and Youth Studies. The candidate should be able to (i) supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects; (ii) conduct research and render professional service; (iii) perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department. The Department reserves the right to allocate other courses in addition to those outlined above.
