Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals, for the position of Manager, ICT Security and Data Protection in the Department of Information and Communications Technology.

Position Description

The Manager of ICT Security and Data Protection is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of the University's cyber security and data protection programs to safeguard the University's digital assets and sensitive information.

Position Requirements

A Bachelors’ degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or related field is required. A relevant master’s degree will be an added advantage.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, CompTIA Security+ CISSP, CIPM, CRisk, etc.) will also be added advantages.

Experience

A minimum of six (6) years experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior professional level.
Experience in a Higher Education environment is preferred. Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, regulations, best practices, and familiarity with security technologies and tools are essential.
In addition, the candidate should excellent leadership, communication, teamwork, and crisis management skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In general successful candidate shall be responsible for strategy and policy implementation, Data protection and compliance, incident response and recovery, security awareness and training, vendor and technology evaluation, people management, financial management, and risk management and compliance. These responsibilities will cover but not limited to the following (a) Develop and implement ICT security and data protection plans, (b) ensure compliance with data protection regulations and University data policies, (c) establish and enforce data protection and privacy measures (d) conduct data impact assessments and maintain data protection documentation (e) conduct regular IT systems audits and advise on corrective (f) Conduct risk analysis and maintain an IT systems risk register, (g) Identify cyber threats and vulnerabilities and take proactive measures to mitigate risks, (h) develop and maintain an incident response plan for cyber security incidents, (i) Lead incident response teams in monitoring, identifying and mitigating security breaches, (j) develop and implement security awareness programmes for users, (k) support internal and external unit level audits as per the University policy (l) Address audit findings and recommendations to improve processes and controls, (m) ensure unit compliance to legislative and statutory requirements and alignment to best practice and standards.

The 4844��Ѹ�� seeks to recruit a Director in the Department of Information Technology. This position plays a critical role in enhancing operational efficiencies and improving productivity, leveraging on Information Technology solutions to the University’s challenges.

Duties:

To plan, coordinate and develop the provision and delivery of information services technology to meet communications, information processing, storage and retrieval needs of the University.
To enhance the cost-effective delivery of academic and administrative services and objectives and the provision of management information.
To advise the University Community on the adoption of IT standards, strategies, and policies.
To control and authorize expenditure against approved budget.
Designs and ensures implementation of appropriate disaster preparation and data recovery plans.
Liaises with local, regional, and international communication providers to ensure that the University Community’s information driven communication needs are met.
Manages the technical support of application software to ensure its optimum performance through participation in software and hardware selections, on-going market surveys and upgrading of software in accordance with license agreements.

Position Requirements:

At least ten (10) years of relevant experience, 5 of which should have been in senior Management in a large organization.
Deep understanding of digital technologies, including cloud computing, data analytics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things (IoT).
Strong knowledge of digital trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and digital transformation roadmaps.
Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in budget management and resource allocation.
Must be fully familiar with the major operating systems and platform, and conversant with 4GL programming tools among others.

(ii)   At least ten (10) years’ experience in the development and operation of wide range of communications and business related applications (preferably in an academic environment) WAN & LAN network development and management, and IT project management, of which, at least five (5) years must be hands-on experience in a major networked computer environment.
(iii)   Must be fully familiar with the major operating systems and platform, and conversant with 4GL programming tools.
(iv)   Experience in the management of professional staff and budgetary control is also essential.

The Department of Information Technology (IT) provides Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services to support teaching, learning, research and administrative business activities of the University. The IT Department serves both staff and students of the University.

Goals

The Information Technology Department provides service to the University based upon these three goals:

Provide quality services and appropriate state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure and business applications, with seamless and secure access that support learning, teaching and research, and administrative functions.
Manage ICT Service Delivery and Service Support benchmarked against best-practice Service Management guidelines.
Establish an ICT infrastructure and services that enable cost reduction, cost sharing, cost recovery and income generation to offset the cost of ICT service provision.
