11:38</span> <div class="field field--name-field-department field--type-entity-reference field--label-inline clearfix"> <div class="field__label">Department/Faculty</div> <div class="field__item">Information Technology</div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-tender-closing-date field--type-datetime field--label-inline clearfix"> <div class="field__label">Closing Date</div> <div class="field__item">Tue, 24 Mar. 2020</div> </div> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><h2><strong>OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR, FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION</strong></h2> <h3><strong>DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY</strong></h3> <p><strong>VACANCY NO: IRC 881, DIRECTOR- INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY</strong></p> <p>The 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû seeks to recruit a Director in the Department of Information Technology.  The Department of Information Technology plays an important role in enhancing operational efficiency and productivity of the University’s administrative and financial activities through the development of appropriate information technology solutions to the University’s systems and procedures.</p> <p><strong>Duties:</strong><br /><strong>i.</strong>    To plan, coordinate and develop the provision and delivery of information services technology to meet communications, information processing, storage and retrieval needs of the University.<br /><strong>ii</strong>.    To enhance the cost effective delivery of academic and administrative services and objectives and the provision of management information,  <br /><strong>iii. </strong>   To advise the University Community on the adoption of IT standards, strategies, and policies.<br /><strong>iv.</strong>    To control and authorize expenditure against approved budget.  <br /><strong>v.</strong>    Designs and ensures implementation of appropriate disaster preparation and data recovery plans<br /><strong>vi.</strong>    Liases with local, regional and international communication providers to ensure that the University Community’s information driven communication needs are met.<br /><strong>vii.</strong>    Manages the technical support of application software to ensure its optimum performance through participation in software and hardware selections, on-going market surveys and upgrading of software in accordance with license agreements.   </p> <p><strong>Position Requirements:</strong></p> <p><strong>(i) </strong>   A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related area.  A relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.<br /><strong>(ii)</strong>    At least ten (10) years’ experience in the development and operation of wide range of communications and business related applications (preferably in an academic environment) WAN & LAN network development and management, and IT project management, of which, at least five (5) years must be hands-on experience in a major networked computer environment.<br /><strong>(iii)</strong>    Must be fully familiar with the major operating systems and platform, and conversant with 4GL programming tools.<br /><strong>(iv)</strong>    Experience in the management of professional staff and budgetary control is also essential.</p> <p><strong>Remuneration:</strong>   The 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû offers a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications.</p> <p><strong>How to apply:</strong> Letters of applications are to address the stated qualifications and provide any other information to assist the University to determine the applicants’ suitability for the position.  Applicants should quote the vacancy number of the post applied for; provide current CVs (including telephone, telex and telefax numbers and email), certified true copies of educational certificates, transcripts and names and addresses of three referees.  Applicants should also inform their referees to (i) Quote the Vacancy Number(s) and Position applied for and (ii) Submit their references directly to the address below before the stipulated closing date.
