He/she shall provide academic leadership to the Faculty by planning, directing and coordinating the formulation and implementation of policies of the Faculty and by promoting engagement with relevant stakeholders. </span></span></span></p> <p><span><span><span>By virtue of the office, the Dean shall be a member of all the boards and committees in the Faculty. In addition he/ she shall be a member of such committees of the Council and Senate as may be prescribed from time to time in the University Statutes. </span></span></span></p> <p><strong><span><span><span>REQUIREMENTS:</span></span></span></strong><span><span><span> Applicants must have attained the rank of Associate Professor or above and must have been of that rank for at least twelve (12) months. In addition, the candidate should have excellent management, human relations and communication, organizational, analytical and coordinating skills. A very good understanding of the University’s system of governance will be an advantage as will be experience in student welfare and stakeholder engagement. </span></span></span></p> <p><strong><span><span><span>DURATION OF TERM OF OFFICE:</span></span></span></strong><span><span><span> The Dean shall be appointed for a minimum of three (3) years and may be re-appointed for a further term of three (3) years on the basis of satisfactory performance. </span></span></span></p> <p><span><span><span>Applicants are to address the stated qualifications in their application letters and provide other information to assist the University determine their suitability for the position. It currently comprises eight departments which offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in various fields. With its 2,300 students, 180 full-time academic staff, and wide array of programs and research centers, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû. It is headed by a Dean who is assisted by a Deputy Dean of the faculty. Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty's Masters, Mphil and Ph.D. programs. The Departments under the Faculty of Social Sciences are Economics, Law, Political Science and Public Administrative Studies, Population Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Statistics. Students admitted into the BA (social sciences) programme are allowed, with the permission of the relevant heads of department, to pursue a combined major in two subjects from some departments across the faculty as well as selected departments in other faculties.
