Senior Lecturer: Applicants should have: (i) a Doctorate in Pharmacy Practice or related field; (ii) a Master’s degree in Pharmacy Practice/post baccalaureate PharmD or related field; (iii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy/MPharm/PharmD or related field with least a 2(i) pass/GPA 3.6; (iv) at least 3 years relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (v) an excellent cumulative and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 pieces of research products published by recognised publishers, 4 of which must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognised indexing databases. The remaining 2 publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings etc, published by recognized publishers. An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; (vi) sustained research output: a minimum of 1 peer reviewed publication every 2 years; (vii) scholarly presentations at national and/or international conferences; (viii) lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles; (ix) publications should be spread nationally and/or internationally and across journals; (x) some research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (required in at least 1 of the these); (xi) recognised as being of at least national research standing (e.g. reviewer for refereed/accredited national and regional publishers; Editorial board member of at least a national publisher in a relevant field; invitation as key note speaker at national and/or international conferences (required in at least 1 of these) and (xii) evidence of governance and social engagement; registered or registrable with BHPC. Associate Professor: Candidates should have (i) Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Analysis; (ii) MSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Analysis (iii) Bachelor of Pharmacy/MPharm/DPharm; (iv) at least 6 years of relevant experience at a university or comparable institution; (v) a minimum of 12 pieces of research products (e.g. articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) published by recognized publishers. 8 of these must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining 4 publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers. An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; (vi) sustained research output: a minimum of 2 peer reviewed publications every three years; (vii) sustained research activity; ongoing externally supported research (e.g., funded or commissioned); (viii) regular paper/poster presentations at national but also increasingly at international conferences; (ix) be lead and/or single author in at least one-third of the required journal publications. There should also be evidence of membership of early careers scholars/graduate students; (x) publications should be spread nationally and/or internationally and across journals; (xi) recognizable research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (required in at least 2 of these); (xii) recognized as being of national but increasingly international research standing (e.g. peer reviewing or new research proposals; reference in research committees; editor/guest editor/reviewer of referenced/accredited national and international publishers; editorial board member of an international publisher in a relevant field; invitations as keynote speaker at a national and international conferences (required in at least 2 of these); (xiii) evidence of governance and social engagement; (xiv) research collaborations with other institutions or organizations; (xv) research collaboration with cognate disciplines in the University; (xvi) external examiner for Masters and/or PhD theses nationally and/or internationally. The following will be added an advantage: (i) research awards and other forms of research recognition, where appropriate.

An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; (vi) Sustained research output is required: a minimum of 1 peer reviewed publication every 2 years; (vii) Scholarly presentations at national and international conferences; (viii) be lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles; (ix) publications should be spread nationally and/or internationally across journals; (X) some research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (e.g. reviewer for refereed/accredited national and regional publishers; Editorial board member of at least a national publisher in a relevant field; invitation as key note speaker at national and/or international conferences (required in at least 1 of the these); (xii) evidence of governance and social engagement. The following will be added advantages: (i) sustained research activity: on-going internally and/or externally supported research; (ii) research awards and other forms of research recognition, where appropriate; (iii) examiner/moderator/assessor for undergraduate and/or postgraduate projects nationally and (iv) effective and experience in running a programme/course, etc.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) Undertake the teaching of Pharmaceutics and Dosage Forms courses in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Duties: The successful candidate is expected to; (i) Manage the laboratories on a day to day basis, e.g. delegation of duties, supervision and training of subordinate staff. (ii)Plans and executes the day to day duties required for laboratory and clinical sessions. (iii)Organises work space (or bench space) and ensure a high productivity in the laboratories. (iv) Acts as a Safety Officer for the laboratories and Department. (v) Provides demonstration where appropriate and competent, the use of laboratory and/or clinical procedures, techniques and/or application of equipment and apparatuses for learners. (vi) inspects and maintains equipment, machinery tools and materials where appropriate. (vii) Ensure the servicing, validation, calibration, repairs and maintenance of all equipment and machinery tools where appropriate. (viii) Advises and support procurement, stock management, as well as, practical and project exercises. (ix)Supports and/or supervises field practice experientials as may be required. (x) Collaborates with strategic partners or bodies on technical matters as regards the teaching and learning process. (xi) Supervises the designated subordinates. (xii) Deputise the Senior Pharmacist when required. Any other duty as assigned by the Supervisor or Head of Department

Requirements: To qualify for appointment, candidates must have at least (i)Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) or equivalent from a recognised institution (ii) relevant postgraduate or second degree will be added advantage (iii) Three (3) years of previous work experience as a Pharmacist. (iv) Registered with the Botswana Health and Professional Council (BHPC).

Qualities: (i)Competence in laboratory and clinical practice. (ii) Good supervisory skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. (iii) Ability to work effectively with students and academic staff. (iv)Ability to work independently. (v) Computer literacy.
