Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Lecturer in Music Education in the Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Education.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) Teach Music Education courses to undergraduate and graduate students; (ii) supervise students on internship/teaching practice; (iii) supervise students’ research projects, theses and dissertations at both undergraduate and graduate levels (iv)undertake any other duties assigned by the Head of Department from time to time.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) a PhD in Music Education or related field; (ii) Master’s degree in Music Education or related fields; (iii) a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Music Education, Musicology or related fields (iv) should produce evidence of having studied performance in at least two musical instruments in order to teach instrumental pedagogy; v) teaching of singing and choral conducting; (vi) show evidence of engagement in research. The following will be added advantages: (vii) evidence of Governance and Social Engagement; viii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution preferably in Music Education; (ix) Assisting students’ participation in extra-curricular activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Associate Professor: Applicants should have: (i) PhD in Art and Design Education or related field; (ii) Master’s degree in Art and Design Education or a related field; (iii) Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design Education or a related field with at least a 2(i) pass (CGPA of at least 3.6) or equivalent. (iv) at least 6 years relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; a minimum of 12 pieces of research products (e.g. articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) published by recognized publishers. 8 of these must be articles in referred/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining 4 publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers. An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; (v) sustained research output: a minimum of 2 peer reviewed publications every 3 years; (vi) sustained research activity; ongoing externally supported research (e.g funded or commissioned); (vii) regular paper/poster presentations at national but also increasingly at international conferences; (viii) be lead and/or single author in at least one-third of the required journal publications. There should also be evidence of mentorship of early career scholars/graduate students; (ix) publications should be spread internationally and across journals; (x) recognizable research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (required in at least 2 of the these); (xi) recognized as being of national but increasingly international research standing (e.g. peer reviewing of new research proposals; reference in research committees; editor/guest editor/reviewer of refereed/accredited national and international publishers; editorial board member of an international publisher in a relevant field; invitations as keynote speaker at national and international conferences (required in at least 2 of the these); (xii) evidence of governance and social engagement; (xiii) research collaborations with other institutions or organizations; (xiv) research collaboration with cognate disciplines in the University; (xv) external examiner for Masters and/or PhD thesis nationally and/or internationally. The following will be added advantages: (i) research awards and other forms of research recognition, where appropriate; (ii) and multi- disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work.

Senior Lecturer: Candidates should have: (i) PhD in Art and Design Education or related field; (ii) Master’s degree in Art and Design Education or a related field; (iii) Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design Education or a related field with at least a 2(i) pass (CGPA of at least 3.6) or equivalent. (iv) At least 3 years teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (v) An excellent cumulative and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 pieces of research products published by recognized publishers, 4 of which should be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining 2 publications could be journal articles, books chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers. VACANCY NO: IRC 2111

The Faculty of Education invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of temporary/full-time lecturer in Social Studies Education, Department of Primary Education.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to; (i) teach Social Studies courses (ii) provide academic leadership through the enhancement of teaching, research, professional and community service; (iii)take an active part in the supervision and assessment of graduate and undergraduate student’s research projects; (iv). Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the head.

Requirements: Lecturer should possess; (i) PhD in Social Studies Education or related fields (ii) Master’s Degree in Social Studies Education (ii) Bachelor of Education in Social Studies Education with a 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent; (iii) show evidence of engagement in research. (iv)Teaching experience at a tertiary education institution will be an added advantage.

NB: In special circumstances a Master’s Degree in Social Studies Education and Bachelor of Education in Social Studies Education or related field with a 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent may be considered.
