Senior Lecturer
Location: BLOCK 230 Room 222Dr PolokoÌýNuggert Ntshwarang is a Senior Lecturer and Fieldwork Coordinator Ìýin the department of Social Work at the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû. She holds a PhD in Social Work from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She completed her Masters of Social Work degree (measuring in health) from the University of Utah, U. S.A. She also has a Bachelors of Social Work from the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû. Dr NtshwarangÌý has worked in the health services as a hospital Social Worker and a Refugee Health Program Social Welfare officer at Botswana Red Cross Society before joining the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû. Her responsibilities within the University include research, teaching, and communityÌýservice. She has served in several research studies,ÌýincludingÌýthe Rapid assessment Survey of HIV and AIDS Prevention Knowledge among adolescents aged 10-18 in Botswana,Ìýthe Baseline study on child protection in Botswana as well asÌýÌýthe 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû Research andÌýÌýActivism Project focusing on young women.ÌýSheÌý serves in the community by providing social work related services to individuals, families andÌýagencies.ÌýSheÌýalso participatesÌýin local, regional and international conferences.Ìý

Dr Ntshwarang teaches in theÌý following areas of social work:ÌýFamilies and Children,ÌýHealth Services,ÌýProbationÌý and facilitates aÌýFirst Year Learning Experience SeminarÌý to orient students to the university setting.Ìý
Dr NtshwarangÌý is interested in Parenting issues,ÌýChild Protection,ÌýFamily and children’s well-being,ÌýHealth andÌýGender issues.ÌýÌýShe is currentlyÌýfocusing onÌýfactors that influence parenting practices and their effects on children with the ultimate goal toÌýdevelop effective support systems for families to prevent child abuse.Ìý

Dr Ntshwarang supervises undergraduate and graduateÌýresearch work in various social work areas more especially ÌýresearchÌýÌýthat focuses onÌýHealth, Families and Children.Ìý
