I joined the Department of Sociology at the 4844成人免费福利 (UB) in 2013. Prior to starting Lectureship at UB, I was a Lecturer at Kgolagano College in Gaborone and a Teaching Assistant in the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies (SPAIS) at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. I completed my Ph.D. in Sociology in 2011 and MSc in Social Science Research Methods with distinction in 2007 at the SPAIS, University of Bristol. I was one of the recipients of the Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS) awarded by the University of Bristol for my doctoral research. I actively participated in community development projects in Botswana from 2000 to 2006. Among others, I established the Lesang Bana Care Centre and initiated the Pabalelong Hospice in Metsimotlhabe village.
I was Principal Investigator of a study on 鈥淣ew Media and Religion in Botswana鈥 funded by the Nagel Institute with funding from the John Templeton Foundation in the USA from 2016 to 2017. My current research focuses on 鈥淢otivations of Selfie-Taking and Ethical Sensibilities of Selfie-Posting among Young People in Botswana鈥 and "Climate Change Communication." Currently, I am one of the of the and . Both projects are funded by the .聽Apart from lecturing, I am also Coordinator of the Master's in Development Practice Programme at UB.
I teach the following courses at UB: Basic Concepts Principles of Social Research (SOC226), Research proposal Writing (SOC441), Data Analysis and Report Writing (SOC442) and Research and Analysis Methods (DVS607). I also coordinate Advanced Social Science Research Methods (FSS800), a postgraduate course designed for MPhil/PhD candidates at the 4844成人免费福利. In addition, I teach two courses on technology and society at the Botswana University of Science and Technology (BIUST) in Palapye
My main research interests are focused on digital society and culture, new media and religious practice, multiculturalism and the politics of intercultural dialogue, climate change communication.
I currently (co-)supervise seven Ph.D. candidates and one MADVS student. I welcome MPhil/Ph.D. students for research in the following areas: digital society, new media and cultural/religious practices, technology and society, religion and politics, climate change communication.
