Prof. Demissie is an Associate Professor of Physical and Computational Chemistry, with a teaching history at Dilla University, Hawassa University, Medco Biomedical College, Addis Ababa University, and Adama Science and Technology University, all in Ethiopia, before joining the 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû. He has also trained university lecturers in the use of computational chemistry tools for problem-solving.

His academic journey includes a PhD funded by the European Union, followed by over five years as a postdoctoral researcher at UiT - The Arctic University of Norway (funded by the Research Council of Norway) and one year at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague (funded by the European Union). Prof. Demissie has authored and co-authored over 75 research papers in prestigious journals. His expertise spans various areas, including relativistic NMR, EPR, and pNMR calculations; computational studies of reaction mechanisms; supramolecular chemistry; computational analyses of absorption, emission, Raman, Raman optical activity, vibrational circular dichroism, and magnetic circular dichroism; computational electrochemistry; CO2 activation and reduction to valuable organic compounds; and drug-protein molecular docking studies.

Beyond his scholarly pursuits, Prof. Demissie is deeply committed to fostering STEM awareness among high school students and promoting public awareness and understanding of scientific endeavors.
