Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate students; (ii) conduct research; (iii) provide diagnostic support in affiliated hospital laboratories.
Requirements: The candidate must have: (i) a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) or MD degree; (ii) a formal degree qualification as a specialist in Anatomic Pathology;Ìý(iii)Ìýthe qualification must be registerable by the Botswana Health Professions Council with a specialist status;Ìý(iv)Ìýevidence of professional specialization in Anatomic Pathology and evidence of active license to practice where appropriate;Ìý(v)Ìýminimum ofÌý6Ìýpieces of research products (Articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings) published by recognised publishers,Ìý3Ìýof which must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognised indexing databases;Ìý(vi)Ìýpaper/poster presentation at national and/or international conferences, depending on the discipline;Ìý(vii)Ìýbe lead and /or last author in at least (2 of 3) refereed journal publications;Ìý(viii)Ìýpublications should be spread nationally and/or internationally and across journals;Ìý(ix)Ìýsome research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed in texts in other institutions etc (required in at least 1 of these);Ìý(x)Ìýrecognized as being of at least national research or effective clinical professional standing (e.g reviewer for refereed/ accredited national and regional publishers, editorial board member of at least national publisher in a relevant field, invitation as keynote speaker at national and international conferences/symposia (required in at least 1 of these);Ìý(xi)Ìýactive maintenance of a license to practice issued by a the relevant professional licensing authority;Ìý(xii)Ìýevidence of governance and social engagement;Ìý(xiii)Ìýsustained professional research output; a minimum of 1 peer reviewed publications every 2 yearsÌýor 2 new CPW every 6 years or since last promotion shall constitute sustained research output;Ìý(xiv)Ìýpaper/poster/creative professional presentation at national and/or regional conferences.ÌýThe following will be added advantages: (i)Ìýsustained research activity, ongoing internally and externally- funded research activity;Ìý(ii)Ìýresearch/clinical effectiveness awards and other forms research recognition;Ìý(iii)Ìýexaminer for undergraduate and /or postgraduate projects nationally.
