VACANCY NO: IRC 1115Ìý - LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN URBAN DESIGN (1 Contract position) (Re-advert)

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Planning & Design; (ii) take an active part in the supervision and assessment of undergraduate and graduate students’ research projects; (iii) serve on committees within the University and external professional organisations; (iv) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements:

The requirements for appointment at each rank are as follows:

³¢±ð³¦³Ù³Ü°ù±ð°ù:Ìý Applicants should have:Ìý(i)Ìýat least PhD degree in Urban & Regional Planning or related field, specializing in Urban Design;Ìý(ii)ÌýA Master’s degree in Urban Design or related field; (iii) a Bachelor’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning or related field of at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent; (iv) show evidence of engagement in research.Ìý Evidence of governance and social engagement in Urban Design or related field, as well as teaching experience at a University or comparable institution will be added advantages.ÌýÌýÌý

N.B. Applicants with Master’s degree in Urban Design or related field with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field of at least 2(i) or equivalent may be considered.

Senior Lecturer: Candidates should have: (¾±)Ìýa Doctorate (PhD) in Urban & Regional Planning or related field; specializing in Urban DesignÌý(¾±¾±)Ìý a Master’s degree in Urban Design or related field; (iii) Bachelor’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning or related field; (iv) at least 3Ìýyears relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution;Ìý(v) an excellent Ìýcumulative and sustained record of research and publications with at leastÌý6Ìýpieces of research products (e.g. articles, book chapters, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) published by recognized publishers. Four (4) of these must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining 2Ìýpublications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers;Ìý(vi)ÌýAn academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality of standing of the publisher;Ìý(vii)Ìýsustained research output: a minimum of 1 peer reviewed publication every 2 years;Ìý(viii)Ìýscholarly presentations at national and/or international conferences; (ix) be lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles; (x) publications should be spread nationally and/or internationally and across journals; (xi) some research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (required in at least 1 of the these); Ìý(xii) recognized as being of at least national research standing (e.g. reviewer for refereed/accredited national and regional publishers; Editorial board member of at least a national publisher in a relevant field; invitation as key note speaker at national and/or international conferences (required in at least 1 of these);and Ìý(xiv)Ìýevidence of governance and social engagement.ÌýThe following will be added advantages: (i) sustained research activity: on-going internally and externally supported research; (ii)Ìýresearch awards and other forms of research recognition, where appropriate;Ìý(iii)Ìýexaminer/ moderator/assessor for undergraduate and/or postgraduate projects nationally;Ìý(iv)Ìýeffective and experience in running a programme/course, etc. ÌýÌý

The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, ISBN numbers (for books, book chapters and conference proceedings),dates of publications, names of publishers, name/s of co-authors if any and number of pages. The works should be categorized into books, book chapters, refereed journals, non-refereed works, consultancies and practical media projects.
