VACANCY NO: IRC 881, DIRECTOR- INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The 4844³ÉÈËÃâ·Ñ¸£Àû seeks to recruit a Director in the Department of Information Technology.Ìý The Department of Information Technology plays an important role in enhancing operational efficiency and productivity of the University’s administrative and financial activities through the development of appropriate information technology solutions to the University’s systems and procedures.
Duties:
i.ÌýÌý ÌýTo plan, coordinate and develop the provision and delivery of information services technology to meet communications, information processing, storage and retrieval needs of the University.
ii.ÌýÌý ÌýTo enhance the cost effective delivery of academic and administrative services and objectives and the provision of management information, Ìý
¾±¾±¾±.ÌýÌý ÌýTo advise the University Community on the adoption of IT standards, strategies, and policies.
iv.ÌýÌý ÌýTo control and authorize expenditure against approved budget. Ìý
v.ÌýÌý ÌýDesigns and ensures implementation of appropriate disaster preparation and data recovery plans
vi.ÌýÌý ÌýLiases with local, regional and international communication providers to ensure that the University Community’s information driven communication needs are met.
vii.ÌýÌý ÌýManages the technical support of application software to ensure its optimum performance through participation in software and hardware selections, on-going market surveys and upgrading of software in accordance with license agreements.Ìý Ìý
Position Requirements:
(¾±)ÌýÌý ÌýA Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related area.Ìý A relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
(ii)ÌýÌý ÌýAt least ten (10) years’ experience in the development and operation of wide range of communications and business related applications (preferably in an academic environment) WAN & LAN network development and management, and IT project management, of which, at least five (5) years must be hands-on experience in a major networked computer environment.
(iii)ÌýÌý ÌýMust be fully familiar with the major operating systems and platform, and conversant with 4GL programming tools.
(iv)ÌýÌý ÌýExperience in the management of professional staff and budgetary control is also essential.
