ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: SPORT SCIENCE/PHYSICAL EDUCATION (Contract Position)

Duties: The successful candidate is expected to: (i) teach pedagogy courses at both undergraduate and graduate level and supervise research, dissertations and practicum; (ii) teach practical courses at the undergraduate level; (iii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department including research and curriculum review; (iv) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.Ìý

Requirements: Candidates must have (i) at least a Doctorate Degree in Sport Science/Physical Education; with a focus in Pedagogy Ìý(¾±¾±) atÌýÌý least six years of relevantÌýÌý teachingÌýÌý experienceÌýÌý atÌýÌý aÌýÌý universityÌýÌý or comparableÌý institution; (iii) aÌý minimum of 12 piecesÌý ofÌý researchÌý productsÌý (e.g. articles,Ìý book chapters,Ìý peer-reviewedÌý conferenceÌý proceedings,Ìý etc.)Ìý published by recognised publishers. Eight (8) of these must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognised indexing databases.Ìý TheÌý remaining four (4) publications couldÌý beÌý journalÌý articles,Ìý bookÌý chapters,Ìý peer-reviewed conference proceedings,Ìý etc. publishedÌý byÌý recognised publishers; (iv) An academic book mayÌý beÌý equivalentÌý toÌý aÌý maximumÌý of 4 articlesÌý inÌý refereed/accreditedÌý journals,Ìý dependingÌý onÌý the qualityÌý ofÌý standing; (v) sustainedÌý researchÌý output:Ìý aÌý minimumÌý of 2 peer-reviewedÌý publications everyÌý threeÌý years; (vi) SustainedÌý researchÌý activity:Ìý on-goingÌý externallyÌý supportedÌý researchÌý (e.g. funded/commissioned); (vii) paper/posterÌý presentationsÌý atÌý internationalÌý conferences atÌý leastÌý once everyÌý twoÌý years; (viii) beÌý a firstÌý authorÌý inÌý atÌý leastÌý one-thirdÌý ofÌý theÌý requiredÌý journal publications,Ìý ThereÌý shouldÌý alsoÌý be evidenceÌý ofÌý mentorshipÌý of earlyÌý careerÌý scholars/graduateÌý students; (ix) publicationsÌý shouldÌý beÌý spreadÌý internationallyÌý and acrossÌý journals; (x) recognizableÌý researchÌý impact,Ìý includingÌý butÌý notÌý limitedÌý toÌý citations,Ìý theÌý h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc.Ìý (required inÌý atÌý leastÌý 2Ìý ofÌý theÌý these); (xi) recognizedÌý asÌý beingÌý ofÌý nationalÌý but increasingly internationalÌý researchÌý standingÌý (e.g.Ìý peerÌý reviewÌý ofÌý newÌý researchÌý proposals;Ìý referenceÌý inÌý research committees;ÌýÌý editor/guestÌýÌý editor/reviewerÌýÌý ofÌýÌý refereed/accreditedÌýÌý nationalÌýÌý andÌýÌý international publishers;Ìý editorialÌý boardÌý memberÌý ofÌý anÌý internationalÌý publisherÌý inÌý aÌý relevantÌý field;Ìý invitationsÌý as keynoteÌýÌý speakerÌýÌý atÌýÌý nationalÌýÌý andÌýÌý international/symposiaÌýÌý (requiredÌýÌý inÌýÌý atÌýÌý leastÌýÌý 2ÌýÌý ofÌýÌý the these); (xii) evidenceÌý ofÌý governance andÌý social engagement;(xiii)researchÌý collaborationsÌý with otherÌý institutionsÌý orÌý organisations; (xiv) researchÌý collaborationÌý withÌý cognateÌý disciplinesÌý inÌý the University; (xv) external examiner for Masters and/or PhD thesis internationally.

Note: The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications: clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers, name(s) of co-authors if any, and number of pages. The publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, chapters in books, refereed and non-refereed journals, consultancies etc. The CV should also have a detailed list of courses taught and the levels for which they were taught.
